As December rolls in and stores bombard us with nothing but holiday music while the television stations broadcast the usual message-driven holiday specials, take heart because there is a light at the end of the tunnel: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. For those requiring a movie fix unlike the traditional choices, National Lampoon is here for you. You’ll never celebrate the holidays without the Griswolds again.

It’s the Griswolds’ year to host Christmas and Clark (Chevy Chase) is going all out – which means he’s gone overboard with the lights, tree and family gift. To make things more interesting, their quirky in-laws and oddball relatives arrive with their own expectations and eccentricities that threaten to ruin the holidays for everyone – even the Griswolds’ neighbours (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Nicholas Guest).

The Griswolds have taken audiences on many adventures, including Europe, Las Vegas and Walley World, but none are as funny or endearing as their Christmas calamity. From blocked sewers to an electrified cat to a holiday kidnapping, it just warms your heart while tickling your funny bone.

The special gift set released especially to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary includes: a Santa hat, four drink coasters with movie quotes, reusable snow powder, an “I Survived a Griswold Family Christmas” button and, exclusive to the Blu-ray set, a miniature moose mug. The Blu-ray special features is an amusing audio commentary by actors Randy Quaid, Beverly D’Angelo, Johnny Galecki, Miriam Flynn, director Jeremiah Chechik and producer Matty Simmons.
